Google Page Rank Calculator

One of the most controversial and hotly contested topics in the internet marketing world is that of Google Page Rank, but there is one element that is not in doubt.

Page Rank is mainly computed from the amount of websites you have linking to you.

Google looks at these links as a type of vote of confidence.

This is factor they use for their Google Page Rank Calculator that figures out the Page Rank number for everybody.

Choosing Quality

But there's something to keep in mind not all links are equal. A web page that has more authority in Google's system already will send more Page Rank value to your site than other with not as much authority.

How do they determine authority?

They do this through existing Page Rank! Let's look at an example to make this easier to understand. If your Uncle Bill has a blog and he links to your business site from it.

Let's say this blog has a Page Rank of 2. It's going to help you, absolutely. It will help even more if you have 100 people with a Page Rank of 2 that can link to your site as well.

Find A Great Page Rank to Link to.

But if you get a link from the main page on HubSpot.com it will help even more than those 100 links.

This is because Hubspot.com has a PageRank of 6 so getting them to link to you will be worth much more.  A way to look at different sites is as follows for different Page Rank

0-3 New sites that don't have many links yet and aren't worth all that much so far.

4-5 Quite busy sites that get a lot of links to them

6 Some of the better sites online, with excellent links recommending them

7-10 Usually the biggest websites and companies online, large corporations or celebrity bloggers.

Is Page Rank Exponential?

It seems likely that Page Rank is a logarithmic number.

This means that the gap between PageRank of 3 and 4 is probably 5-10 times larger than the gap between 2 and 3.

In other words, there are likely hundreds of times as many sites that rank Page Rank 2 than there are Page Rank 4.

If you start getting to the larger numbers, like 6 and up, you're probably the owner of the top 0.1 websites online.

If you're competing with sites that rank lower, around 1 or 2, you're site is currently much stronger than any of them.
