Google Traffic

Google SEO Blog

Wordpress remains the easiest and fastest way to start a modern blog.

It's easy to install, it's free to download, and Google likes it.

Here are some steps to take to get your Wordpress blog to the top of Google's rankings with your Google SEO Blog.

1 - Keyword Research

If you don't do keyword research before deciding what to write about, you stand a low chance to rank for anything at all.

Putting together a list of keywords before you do any writing at all is absolutely necessary. Google provides its own keyword tool that helps you do this.

Doing this research requires analyzing two key pieces of information

-The monthly searches each keyword gets
-The number of sites already focusing on these sites

Put together a list of words that get good traffic - usually somewhere around 500 or 1000 monthly searches and have less than 20.000 sites that focus on it.

To figure this out, do a search in Google for the keyword, but put quotes around it.

2 - Apply SEO To Your Site So Google Likes It

You can start this step by logging in to the dashboard of your Wordpress theme, go the Permalinks catalog in the Settings, and change the structure of your URLs.

Go to the custom element and type in postname. This will change the way the site puts together its post URLs.

Instead of having a post that ends in something that looks like p1 you will end up with something like site.compost-name. This allows Google to figure out what the post is about much faster.

Also, go to the Writing category in the Settings, and put in a list of ping services that will receive notification when your site changes. That way, Google will know exactly when to go back and check your site.

3 - Write Good Material

Google wants good writing at the top of its search results. Make sure you write on a regular basis and use that central keyword in each post you write.

Wordpress will use its pinging service to tell Google you have written it, and they will come read it.

These steps, religiously applied, combined with a good Wordpress blog and solid SEO steps, will help you rise to the top of the Google results quickly.
